Complexity Issues within Eigenvalue-Based Multi- Antenna Spectrum Sensing

چکیده
This chapter provides a deep insight into multiple antenna eigenvalue-based spectrum sensing algorithms from a complexity perspective. A review of eigenvalue-based spectrum-sensing algorithms is provided. The chapter presents a finite computational complexity analysis in terms of Floating Point Operations (flop) and a comparison of the Maximum-to-Minimum Eigenvalue (MME) detector and a simplified variant of the Multiple Beam forming detector as well as the Approximated MME method. Constant False Alarm Performances (CFAR) are presented to emphasize the complexity-reliability tradeoff within the spectrumsensing problem, given the strong requirements on the sensing duration and the detection performance.

Primary User Signal Detection Based on Virtual Multiple Antennas for Cognitive Radio Networks
Primary User (PU) signal detection is critical for cognitive radio networks as it allows a secondary user to find spectrum holes for opportunistic reuse. Eigenvalue based detection has many advantages, such as it does not require knowledge on primary user signal or noise power level. However, most of the work on eigenvalue based detection methods presented in the literature require multiple sen...

This paper proposes an efficient spectrum sensing scheme for OFDM signal transmitted by the primary user with its Cyclic Prefix Correlation Coefficient (CPCC) based on multi-antenna. Inspired by the Maximum-minimum Eigenvalue Detection (MMED) algorithm, a CPCC-based MMED spectrum sensing algorithm is proposed. This algorithm uses inherent property of Cyclic Prefix (CP) resulting in nonzero corr...
متن کاملWideband Spectrum Sensing Based on Riemannian Distance for Cognitive Radio Networks
Detecting the signals of the primary users in the wideband spectrum is a key issue for cognitive radio networks. In this paper, we consider the multi-antenna based signal detection in a wideband spectrum scenario where the noise statistical characteristics are assumed to be unknown. We reason that the covariance matrices of the spectrum subbands have structural constraints and that they describ...
متن کاملA Diversity-based Multi-antenna Cooperative Detection Model in Cognitive Radio Network
Spectrum sensing is a key technology in the study of cognitive radios, but its attributes are easily influenced by the channel fading. Compared with singleuser spectrum sensing, multiple-user spectrum sensing can overcome the impacts caused by the fading environment of cognitive radio. Since diversity technology has been proved to provide the system high transmission rate and high link reliabil...
متن کاملA Comparison of Spectrum-Sensing Algorithms Based on Eigenvalues
Cognitive radio has been attracting increased attention as an effective approach to improving spectrum efficiency. One component of cognitive radio, spectrum sensing, has an important relationship with the performance of cognitive radio. In this paper, after a summary and analysis of the existing spectrum-sensing algorithms, we report that the existing eigenvalue-based semi-blind detection algo...
